Kavalan – Solist Vinho Barrique Single Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky (54.8%)

This is a single cask, cask strength single malt from Kavalan of Taiwan, bottled at 54.8% ABV. Only 212 bottles were released from this cask. It was matured fully in used American oak wine barriques, which held both red and white wines. The casks were shaved, gently toasted and then briefly charred, a process said to bring out fruit flavours such as lime, berry fruits and peaches, along with vanilla, ice cream and caramelised sugar. The American oak was seasoned in the open air for at least 24 months, which lends vanilla spice and hints of dill and lemon grass.
