Kavalan – Solist Vinho Barrique Single Cask Strength (70cl, 56.3%)

Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique is a single cask, cask strength single malt from Taiwan, bottled in 2015 at 56.3% in a 70cl bottle. This is bottle 61 of 183. It was matured fully in used American oak wine barrels that have been toasted and recharred. The barrels held both red and white wines, which adds a background fruitiness to the vanilla notes from the whisky and the wood. The nose combines vanilla, caramelised sugars and dark chocolate with ripe melon, mango, kiwi and citrus, with a little pepper behind. The palate is clean and complex, with a long aftertaste.
