This is a Kentucky bourbon from The Caskhound, Find 5 of The Liquid Madness, distilled in Owensboro. It is 3 years and 10 months old and was matured in virgin oak, then finished in an ex-Islay cask. Bottled at 58.8% ABV, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, it comes in an outturn of 298 bottles.
The nose has furniture polish, wax, caramel and vanilla, cut wood, plenty of spice and a hint of smoke. On the palate, caramelised popcorn, wood and toffee meet honey sweetness and spice, followed by a wave of warm peat smoke and a touch of ash.
The finish is medium and spicy, with ash and minty chocolate, ending in dry oak.
