Kentucky Owl Confiscated is a small batch Kentucky straight bourbon released in 2019 by master blender Dixon Dedman. It is named after the 1916 seizure of the original Kentucky Owl bourbon stocks by federal agents, just before Prohibition. It is bottled at 96.4 proof (48.2%) after maturing in new charred American oak.
The nose is floral, with gardenia, honeysuckle, grape, red apple and orange peel, alongside banana bread and toasty sourdough crust. On the palate come graham crackers, toffee, mild sweet cinnamon, fresh orange and white grape, balanced by toasted oak and tobacco. The finish is medium to long, with oak, baking spice and a hint of cayenne warmth.
