Kentucky Owl Rye Batch No. 1 is the first rye release from Kentucky Owl, launched in September 2017 by Master Blender Dixon Dedman after the brand's bourbon batches. It is a Kentucky straight rye aged for a minimum of 11 years and bottled at 55.3% (110.6 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
It was blended from a hand-selected group of mature Kentucky straight rye barrels, matured in new charred oak, with the aim of showing both delicate fruit aromatics and the fuller body of long-aged rye.
The nose is honey, cinnamon and warm cinnamon rolls with vanilla, mandarin orange, mint and a floral note. The palate is sweet and full-bodied with floral honey, dried citrus, cherry, oak and clove, and the finish is long and warming with oak, rye spice, dark caramel and cinnamon.
