Kilchoman – 2018 Ruby Port Cask Matured 2024 Edition (70cl, 50%)

This is a Kilchoman single malt from Islay, matured entirely in Ruby Port casks and released as a 2024 limited edition. It is bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. The youngest of the Port casks used are six years old. The Port maturation adds a sweetness of red berries, cinnamon and figs to the maritime peat smoke and light citrus sweetness the distillery is known for. On the nose there are red berries and figs with citrus, cinnamon and smoked paprika. The palate brings cooked strawberries, smoked meats, sweet tobacco and charcoal smoke, and the finish is warming, with fruity sweetness and ashy smoke.
