This is a 14 year old Islay single malt from Kilchoman, the first edition of its Family Collection. The barley was grown at Rockside Farm and malted on site, then distilled in 2011 and matured in ex-bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 50.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The casks were chosen by the Wills family, who founded the distillery, during their annual review of maturing stock. The malt is peated to about 20 ppm.
The nose offers vanilla, creamy toffee and honey with citrus peel and gentle peat smoke. The palate brings sweet malt, vanilla and toffee, then citrus, soft spice and oak. The finish is long, honeyed and lightly smoky.
