Kilchoman – Family Collection 20 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 1st Edition (70cl, 49.9%)

This is a 20 year old Islay single malt from Kilchoman, the first edition of its Family Collection. It is bottled at 49.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered and of natural colour. The whisky was made from heavily peated barley from Port Ellen Maltings, at about 50 ppm, and matured for the full twenty years in ex-bourbon barrels. The casks were chosen by the Wills family, who founded the distillery. It is the distillery's first 20 year old available worldwide. The nose has mature oak and baked apple with lemon, beeswax and gentle coastal smoke. The palate brings honeyed malt, toasted coconut and citrus with white pepper. The finish moves from smoke to oak spice, citrus peel and a mineral saltiness.
