Kilchoman Machir Bay is a peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is named after the beach on Islay's Atlantic coast and comes from Kilchoman, founded in 2005.
It is vatted from 90% ex-bourbon barrels and 10% Oloroso sherry casks. The distillery takes smaller heart cuts, and the whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled without added colour.
Peat smoke leads the nose, with lemon and grapefruit zest, shortbread, a little salinity and honeyed florals. The palate is sweet, with papaya, mango, caramel, vanilla, baking spice and dried raisin. The finish is medium-long and fresh, with peat smoke, vanilla, salted caramel and a light ashy note.
