Kilchoman Sanaig is a peated Islay single malt without an age statement, bottled at 46% in a 75cl bottle. It was named Best Single Malt Scotch Whisky in the Non Age Statement category at the 2016 International Wine & Spirit Competition.
It is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts, with more weight given to the sherry casks than in the distillery's Machir Bay. It is bottled without chill filtration.
The nose offers roasted fig, cedar smoke, dark chocolate, heather and orange peel. The palate is plush, with toffee, cooked fruit and berries, then smoked meat and building peat. The finish is medium to long, with peat smoke, raisins and a faint chocolate bitterness.
