Kilchoman – Machir Bay

Kilchoman Machir Bay is the signature peated single malt of Kilchoman, the distillery at Rockside Farm in the west of Islay. It was the first distillery built on the island for 120 years, and its first whisky was made in 2005. The whisky is matured in both bourbon and sherry casks. A high proportion of bourbon barrels balances classic Islay character with fresh floral notes. It is named after one of Islay's best-known beaches. In the glass it is usually described as showing citrus zest, vanilla biscuit and peat smoke, with tropical fruit, raisin and black pepper to follow.
