Kilchoman – Sanaig

A single malt from Kilchoman, the farm distillery at Rockside Farm on the north-west coast of Islay. Sanaig takes its name from an inlet on the island's Atlantic coast. It is a vatting of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks, with a high proportion of sherry. That brings dried fruit and spice to Kilchoman's citrus sweetness and peat smoke. It is bottled without colouring or chill-filtration. The nose offers pineapple, white grapes and fresh coffee over earthy peat. The palate has toffee, peach, chocolate raisins and red berries, with growing peat and black pepper. The finish is quite long, with coastal peat lingering.
