Kildalton 21 Year Old Refill Bourbon & Sherry Matured Living Souls (70cl, 42.6%)

Kildalton is a 21-year-old Islay single malt bottled under a name that leaves its distillery undisclosed. Widely understood to be Ardbeg, it comes from the south-east of Islay and was matured in refill bourbon and sherry casks. Its character combines medicinal peat and sea spray with grilled pineapple, burnt sugar, dark caramel and dried fruit. Pepper, tar and herbal notes accompany an oily coastal character, with the smoke well integrated after its long maturation.
