Kilkerran 12 Year Old is a lightly peated Campbeltown single malt from Glengyle Distillery. It is bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is matured for 12 years in a mix of 70% bourbon casks and 30% sherry casks. Glengyle reopened in 2004 after being silent since 1925, and the Kilkerran name comes from the Gaelic for Campbeltown.
The nose is sweet, with Turkish delight, pear drops, marzipan and a little peat smoke. The palate opens with lemon and an oily texture, then moves to peat, pepper and sticky toffee pudding. The finish carries smoke, pecan pie and butterscotch.
