This is the 2022 release of Kilkerran 12 Years Old, a lightly peated Campbeltown single malt from the Glengyle distillery. Glengyle belongs to the Mitchell family, who also own Springbank, and it reopened in 2004 after being closed for almost 80 years.
The whisky was matured in roughly 70% bourbon casks and 30% sherry casks, and is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is led by oak, with toasted marshmallow, dried fruit pudding, cherries and marzipan. The palate opens with citrus and orange peel before vanilla and honeycomb, and the finish is smooth, with a salty, oily edge.
