A 12 year old Campbeltown single malt, the 2021 release from the Mitchell family's Glengyle distillery, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is lightly peated and was matured in about 70% bourbon casks and 30% sherry casks.
Glengyle re-opened in 2004 after being closed for almost 80 years, and returned to the Mitchell family, owners of Springbank, in 2000.
The nose has oak, toasted marshmallow, dried fruit pudding, cherries, marzipan and a hint of peat. The palate opens fruity with citrus and orange peel, then vanilla, butterscotch, honeycomb and digestive biscuit. The finish is smooth, with lemon meringue, oiliness and saltiness.
