Kilkerran 16 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt from Glengyle Distillery, in its 2024 release, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was matured in a mix of casks: 70 per cent bourbon, 20 per cent sherry and 10 per cent rum. Glengyle was founded in 1873 by William Mitchell, closed in 1925 and reopened in 2004 by the Mitchells' descendants. Kilkerran is lightly peated and twice distilled, and is bottled non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
Pineapple, morello cherries and soft peat smoke open the nose. The palate is tropical, with mango and papaya, golden syrup, coconut, dried apricots and creamy vanilla. The finish has a mineral note, a touch of pepper and cherry menthol.
