Kilkerran 16 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt from the Glengyle distillery, which William Mitchell founded in 1872 just down the road from Springbank. It was matured in a combination of 60% Bourbon and 40% Sherry casks.
The nose has prunes, marzipan and orange-infused chocolate. On the palate come maraschino cherry syrup, liquorice, dates and star anise, with gentle peat smoke and a hint of cinnamon toast. The finish brings sea salt, hazelnuts, mint and morello cherries.
