Kilkerran 16 Years (2024) (70cl, 46%)

This is the fifth release of Kilkerran 16 Years, from the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown. It appeared in June 2024. The first 16 year old marked the distillery's 16th anniversary in March 2020. The malt comes from the Springbank distillery's traditional malting floor. It is lightly peated and twice distilled, and bottled at 46% without added colour or chill-filtration. The whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks for 70%, sherry casks for 20% and rum casks for 10%. Tasting notes mention pineapple, sour cherries and soft peat smoke on the nose. Tropical fruit, mango, papaya, golden syrup, coconut and creamy vanilla follow on the palate, and the finish is mineral with pepper.
