This is the seventh release in Kilkerran's Work in Progress series, a cask strength single malt matured in bourbon wood. It was bottled in 2015 at 54.1% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colouring. Kilkerran is made at Glengyle, the sister distillery of Springbank.
The nose is mineral, with limestone, sand and a hint of lime, eucalyptus and porridge. On the palate it opens with a clean, very lemony arrival, then lime and mineral notes with a slight sourness. The finish is long and zesty, with a woolly side and a trace of coal smoke.
