Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 7 is the seventh release of the heavily peated Kilkerran, distilled at Glengyle in Campbeltown and part of the In Progress series. It was bottled in 2022 at 59.1% as a limited edition.
The whisky matured 90% in bourbon casks and 10% in sherry casks.
The nose is fresh, with morning dew, pine forest and damp gooseberry bushes, and a green hemp note develops with time. On the palate the peat comes forward with a sweetness of toasted marshmallow, lemon cake and shortbread. The finish stays sweet and peaty, ending salty with roasted pretzels and fresh green apples.
