Kilkerran Heavily Peated Cask Strength Batch 13 (70cl, 58.6%)

Kilkerran Heavily Peated Cask Strength Batch 13 is a Campbeltown single malt from Glengyle Distillery, in a 70cl bottle. It is made from heavily peated malt and bottled at natural cask strength, 58.6%. The peat smoke is layered rather than overwhelming, with citrus, brine and earth alongside it. A few drops of water open it further. The nose brings bonfire smoke, sea spray and citrus peel with vanilla, green apple and a touch of medicinal peat. The palate is full-bodied and oily, with lemon zest, malt sweetness and brine. The finish is long, with lingering smoke, spice and a drying, ashy edge.
