The first release in the Work in Progress series from Kilkerran, the single malt made at Glengyle in Campbeltown. It was bottled in 2009 at 46%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. The series followed the development of Kilkerran in the years before the 12 Year Old became a regular bottling.
The nose is yellow apple and malt with honey, vanilla, a hint of smoke and a light salty, mineral edge. The palate is soft and malty, with honey, vanilla, fresh fruit and dry smoke. The finish is dry and pleasantly spicy, with apple, oak and fading smoke.
