Kingsbarns – Family Reserve 2020 (70cl, 59.2%)

This is the first cask strength bottling from Kingsbarns Distillery in the Lowlands, a Lowland single malt released in 2020 at 59.2% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery is owned by the people behind the independent bottler Wemyss, and 3000 bottles were filled. The whisky is a vatting of 90% bourbon casks and 10% STR casks, which are shaved, toasted and re-charred red wine casks. The nose is floral, with jasmine, honeysuckle, mango, vanilla, saffron and banana. The palate brings shortbread, mango, papaya, coconut and oak, and the finish is fresh and fruity with a little oak.
