Knob Creek Bourbon X Rye is a Kentucky whiskey blend of 30% nine-year-old straight bourbon and 70% seven-year-old straight rye, bottled at 56.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is produced at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. The bourbon component has a mashbill of about 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley.
The nose brings maple syrup and vanilla, nutty baking spices, toasted oak and caramel. The palate begins with pepper and cool mint from the rye, then caramel apples, butterscotch and brown sugar, with orange peel, dark berries and hot honey. The finish is long and warming, with black pepper, cinnamon, caramel, prune and green apple.
