Koval – Four Grain Whiskey (20cl, 47%)

Koval Four Grain is an American single barrel whiskey from the Chicago distillery Koval, in a 200ml bottle at 47%. It is made without chill-filtration or added colour. The mash combines oats, malted barley, rye and wheat from an organic farming collective in the Midwest. It matures in new, heavily charred oak casks from Minnesota that hold about 114 litres, smaller than the roughly 201-litre casks common in the USA. Each bottling comes from one cask. The nose offers ripe banana, dried apricots and tropical fruit. The palate is creamy and fruity, with vanilla custard against dry oak. The finish leaves a spiciness reminiscent of allspice.
