Koval – Single Barrel Rye Whiskey Maple Syrup Finish (50cl, 50%)

Koval Single Barrel Rye is a rye whiskey from the Koval distillery in Chicago, bottled at 50% in a 50cl bottle as a limited edition. It matured first in American white oak and then took a finish in casks that previously held maple syrup. Koval was founded in Chicago in 2008 by Robert and Sonat Birnecker, who left academic careers to distil, and it works with organically grown grain from the region. Tasting notes mention cinnamon, cherry and molasses, alongside the rich character of the maple syrup.
