Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2022 is an Islay single malt from the limited editions Diageo publishes each autumn. It was matured for twelve years in refill American oak and new oak casks, then bottled at cask strength, 57.3% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
The new oak adds spice to the powerful peat of Lagavulin.
The nose brings peat smoke, iodine, lemon, pepper and a note of fresh wood. The palate is intense, with peat, spice, vanilla, ginger and salt. The finish is very long, smoky and peppery, with toasted wood.
