Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2022 is an Islay single malt bottled at 57.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from virgin oak casks and the distillery's smokiest reserves, with peaty casks leading spice and smoke alongside a deep sweetness.
The nose has crackling spice rising from smoky intensity. The palate starts smooth and oily with sweet richness, then lemony citrus and sea salt bring freshness and spice. It turns drier mid-palate as the smoke builds, and the finish is long, smoky and spicy, with great waves of peat.
