A 16 year old single malt from the Lagavulin distillery on Islay, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It is a vigorous, smoky whisky. On the nose the smoke soon turns sweet, with coffee, fruit and nuts. Adding water, one part whisky to two of water, brings out a soft peat character and a cluster of smoky notes.
On the palate the softness of the malt comes with herbal notes and touches of sea water, followed by pine resin, dryness and fragrant smoke.
