This Lagavulin 28 Year Old was distilled in 1992 and bottled in 2021 at a cask strength of 47.7% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It comes from a small experimental batch matured entirely on Islay in freshly charred American oak hogshead, and 1081 bottles were filled.
The nose is mellow, with linseed oil and fragrant smoke. The palate starts softly, lightly sweet and smoky, with a pinch of salt mid-palate before turning oaky with vanilla spice and a gentle dryness. It builds quietly and finishes long, leaving a sweet gingery warmth and light smoke.
