Lagavulin – 8 Years (70cl, 48%)

Lagavulin 8 Years is an Islay single malt released to mark 200 years of Lagavulin, from 1816 to 2016. It was matured in refill European and American oak casks and is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. The release looks back to a time when eight years was considered an old age for a whisky. The nose is smoky, with hints of sweetness and earth, and the typical peat and iodine character. The palate has a light structure with a full body, and a smoky sharpness runs through it. The finish is clean and very long.
