Laggan Mill Secret Islay Port Wood Finish Cooper's Choice (44.5%)

Laggan Mill is a single malt from an undisclosed Islay distillery, bottled by Cooper's Choice in 2021 at 44.5% ABV. Only 600 bottles were filled. The whisky has no age statement and was finished in Port casks. That is unusual, as the distillery has traditionally used a mix of sherry and bourbon casks for its own bottlings. Wine, iodine and iron show in both nose and palate, with plenty of peat. The nose has fruity smoke and cured meat. The palate offers sweet peat with red fruits, oily smoke and pepper, and the finish balances fruit and smoke.
