This is Laphroaig 10 Year Old, an Islay single malt matured in ex-bourbon barrels. It comes in a 70cl bottle. The barley is cold-smoked and then dried over a peat fire, which gives the whisky its smoky, iodine-rich character.
The nose is led by big, smoky peat with spice, liquorice, salt, iodine and cool wood smoke. The palate is led by seaweed, with vanilla ice cream, medicinal notes, strong oak and a rise of cardamom, black pepper and chilli. The finish is big and drying, with savoury, tarry notes and iodine.
