Laphroaig 10 Year Old is an Islay single malt, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The distillery is known for its medicinal malts, and this is the classic ten-year-old expression.
The nose opens with big, smoky peat, spice, liquorice and a good deal of salt, alongside iodine, sticking plasters and cool wood smoke. The palate is led by seaweed, with a hint of vanilla ice cream, a medicinal note of TCP, strong oak and rising spice of cardamom, black pepper and chilli.
The finish is big and drying, with savoury, tarry notes and iodine.
