A 10-year-old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, whose distillery stands on the island's south coast. It spent 12 months in Oloroso sherry casks and was bottled at 48%.
The cask work sits alongside the familiar, intensely peaty character of the classic Laphroaig 10 Years.
The nose brings smoked meat, maple syrup, barbecued lemon, charred oak and a little coffee. On the palate there is toasted cedar and peat smoke with a hidden touch of iodine, then dark chocolate, honey and vanilla pod. The finish is balanced, with sherry sweetness and smouldering peat.
