This is Laphroaig 15 Year Old, a limited edition Islay single malt released for the distillery's own 200th anniversary in 2015. Laphroaig was founded in 1815.
It revives the original 15 year old, first launched over 30 years ago with a slightly lower level of peat and a higher alcohol strength. The original is a favourite expression of Distillery Manager John Campbell, and this bottling pays tribute to it, combining peat smoke with rich fruit.
The nose offers grapefruit and fresh mint, with salted caramel emerging after a little water. The palate is peppery and lightly smoky, finishing mellow.
