Laphroaig 15 Year Old is an Islay single malt, here marking the distillery's 200th anniversary. The barrels were individually selected for a mellow, rounded flavour and batch bottled at the higher export strength of 43%.
On the nose there is grapefruit and fresh mint, and a little water brings out salted caramel, with Islay peat smoke beneath sweet orchard fruit. The palate shows pink peppercorns and light peat smoke with a soft dryness, then tobacco and faint sea salt. The finish is mellow, with a smoky aftertaste.
