Laphroaig – 15 Years Old (46%)

A 15 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, matured in ex-American oak casks and bottled at 46% ABV. It returns after more than ten years away. The extra years add depth to the distillery's smoky character, and the extra time in the cask gives a fuller, rounder texture. The nose opens with fresh citrus, orange peel and grapefruit, alongside dried hay, soft vanilla and a little clove. On the palate, smoke and sea salt lead, followed by ground black pepper, warming spice and a subtle sweetness. The finish is long and smoky, with savoury notes, a salty coastal tang and a clean sweetness.
