This is a 19-year-old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2014 at a cask strength of 59.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is a single Bourbon cask, numbered 29.156 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, and was bottled for the 8th anniversary of the Society's Taiwan branch. It was never released in the UK. The nose opens with carbolic and coal tar soap, road tar and soot, with Brazil nuts, pine nuts and a garden shed behind them. The palate is very sweet, salty and smoky, recalling smoked hot dog with barbecue sauce, then oysters with clamato sauce. Water brings out medicinal notes and makes it a little less sweet and salty, with plenty of sooty smoke remaining.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
