This is a 23 year old Laphroaig from Islay, bottled at 57.1% in a 70cl bottle by the independent bottler Uncharted Whisky. It was distilled in 1998, matured in a bourbon barrel and bottled in October 2021. The release is limited to 208 bottles.
On the nose it is sweet, warm smoke with deep peat, brine and a hint of seaweed, followed by sweet bread, cloves and candied ginger. The palate brings rich peat and coal smoke, settling into a round, creamy texture with sweet spice. The finish leaves smoke that turns briny, with a medicinal note and gentle warmth.
