This is a 25 year old Laphroaig from the 2018 release, a single malt bottled at 52% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose starts mineral and punchy, with sunflower oil, ash and carbon paper, over a layer of grapefruit, lime and grilled pineapple. Eucalyptus, sea spray and burnt orange peel sit on top.
The palate is big, with minty smoke and medicinal notes, lemon, grapefruit, brine and freshly crushed peppercorns, and a fruity, slightly tropical side. The finish is long, with burnt grasses, cold smoke, roasted coffee beans and a honeyed fruit note.
