A 39 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, released as 'Rope' by Laura Carlin in The Wall Collection. It is one of 200 bottles, aged in European oak casks seasoned with Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry, and has a rich tawny hue.
The nose is layered, with polished leather, spiced toffee, molasses, cranberry, mandarin peel and dark cherry, plus hints of sandalwood. On the palate a gentle smokiness runs beneath treacle toffee, toasted hazelnuts and candied orange peel. The finish brings smoked orange toffee, oaky warmth and festive spice.
