Laphroaig Bold Characters 'Willem' is a 14 year old Islay single malt created with the actor Willem Dafoe and the distillery's blending team, who worked together on the selection and the design. The packaging was designed with him too.
The whisky matured in American oak and was then finished in Oloroso sherry casks. It is non-chill-filtered and bottled at 53.7% ABV.
The nose is floral, with sweet pea and jasmine, burnt caramel, sea air, campfire smoke and a touch of menthol. The palate has muscovado sugar, salted caramel and coffee grounds, with quiet smoke behind. The finish is long and intense.
