Laphroaig Cairdeas Pedro Ximenez Finish is a limited-edition Islay single malt released for Feis Ile 2021. The Cairdeas series is an annual release first launched in 2008 for the distillery's fan club, the Friends of Laphroaig.
The whisky is matured three times: first in bourbon barrels, then in American oak quarter casks, and finally in European oak hogsheads that held Pedro Ximenez sherry. It is bottled at cask strength.
The nose is smoky driftwood, iodine and sea brine, with black cherries, molasses and sticky toffee pudding behind. On the palate it is smoky and medicinal, with raisin, cherry syrup, burnt caramel and clove, and an oily, heavy texture.
