A cask strength Islay single malt from Laphroaig, released in 2017 as a limited edition for Feis Ile, the island's whisky and music festival. It belongs to the Cairdeas series, first launched in 2008 for the distillery's fan club, the Friends of Laphroaig.
The whisky is matured in three stages: ex-bourbon barrels, then American oak quarter casks, then European oak hogsheads seasoned with Pedro Ximenez sherry. It is bottled at 57.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is creamy vanilla and mint, followed by wet peat, orange zest and sea salt. Pepper and sweet smoke lead the palate, and the finish is long and peaty.
