Laphroaig – Oak Select (70cl, 40%)

Laphroaig Oak Select is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle without chill-filtration. It pairs a creamy softness and sweetness with plenty of peat and a medicinal edge from the start. On the nose there is malt, salty sea air and toast, along with something reminiscent of rice wine or rice pudding. The palate is smooth to oily, with barbecue smoke, oranges and mandarins and a salty coastal note. The finish is gently bitter and peppery, with a plaster and bandage character, and the peat stays long.
