Laphroaig – Quarter Cask (70cl, 48%)

Laphroaig Quarter Cask is an Islay single malt bottled at 48%, non-chill filtered, in a 70cl bottle. It is first matured in ex-bourbon casks, then moved into smaller American oak quarter casks, reviving a 19th-century method that increases contact with the wood. Laphroaig was founded in 1815 on Islay's southern coast. The nose brings peat smoke, charred oak and coastal brine, like seaweed on a campfire. The palate is rich, with smoke, vanilla, salted caramel and chilli heat. The finish is long and smoky, with a peppery, ashy tail and flashes of honey and liquorice.
