Laphroaig – Quarter Cask

Laphroaig Quarter Cask is an Islay single malt matured first in ex-bourbon casks and then in small quarter casks. The smaller casks give the whisky about 30% more contact with the wood. The nose is oily and buttery, with toffee, nuts, hickory, rum and raisin ice cream. On the palate sweetness comes first, followed by chilli heat, sweet cereal and a hint of cola syrup. The finish is of medium length and turns fruity, with pudding and cigar smoke. The colour is a bright, reflective gold.
