Laphroaig Quarter Cask is an Islay single malt bottled at 48%. It was first released in 2004.
The whisky matured for about five years in ex-bourbon casks, then spent several months in a quarter cask, a small cask that does not need a long maturation.
The nose is oily and buttery, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, and rum and raisin ice cream with peel. The palate opens with a big wave of sweetness, then fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet grain and a touch of cola syrup. The finish is medium to long and turns fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.
